Two Hearts Beating as One Eternity

Written by,
Keane Holmes.

This is a leap year. This Story is Anniversary of a boy from 1944. 16 leap years ago. On Valentines day, the night before. only hours before. He was in love with a wonderful girl who lived only a block away. She was in love with him. He loved her, she loved him. Though they did not tell each other, they knew. To their last days they knew.

Johnny was 17 and watching the political affairs in Europe very closely. He knew the United States would enter the war. He began to work for top physical condition to go to colege and enter the war as an officer. She knew what he was doing. For she was not stupid. Emilly saw he was going to go, and many others were going with him.

Valentines day was nearing. Only 7 days before she would let him make her his. The Following days Emilly gave Johnny vague clues to what she was talking about. Though when it came to Emilly, Johnny was a little thick headed at times. He became very eager for his present, Expecting a flower, a kiss, something small, but meant so very much to his heart. In all honesty Johnny did not have a clue to what she was going to give him. He just knew that he would love anything she gave him.

Emilly bought some other smaller items that Johnny would love. Johnny went out to buy some small items that he thought she would like.

As Valentines day approached their hearts beated harder and harder. This came to a point that the whole day Johnny and Emilly could feel the Lub Dub of their hearts every minute of the day. They woke to the feeling. Johnny talked to his mother and father about the feeling. Amielia, his mother told Johnny that it might be love. His Father Harold told him to go to the doctor to be checked out. Johnny did so and went to the family doctor. As Johnny went out the door Harlod stopped him and whispered, "son, I knew a friend that had that feeling. He gave all for that feeling. You are in love son. Now go on and be back before dusk." Johhny left for the doctors reflecting on what his father had said.

While Johnny talked to his parents. Emilly talked to her Mother, Hanna. Hanna told her that she might be falling in love, but should go to the doctor just to be safe. Emilly left for the doctors, along the way she stopped at the church and into the cematary where she went to her fathers gave stone. Emilly's father Tom had died taking a bullet for the woman that he was in love with. A hollow tip from a civil war era rifle to the heart. Emilly knelt down and talked to her dad for half an hour hoping for some sign, some self realization, just for some help. As she talked crying, her hands against her chest feeling the strong lub dub coming from her heart. Finally after half an hour she felt, lub lub dub dub. She recoiled and realized she had must run to the doctors.

After talking to the Doctor for some time, and he ran some basic checks. Doctor Henderson concluded that nothing was wrong. As Johnny left he passed Emilly in the waiting room. They told each other that it was just a small anual check up, so not to worry the other. Doctor Henderson came to the same conclusion for Emilly as Johnny, nothing was wrong. The second heart beat must have been part of her mind as result of the emotions she was having at the time. Emilly went home unconviced.

The next few days Emilly tried hard by concentrating hard to feel that second beat again. The only thing she felt was her heart beat growing harder and harder. Johnny could not sleep anymore without the feeling of two heart beats in his heart. He felt completely at home with this feeling.

Finally the day was the thirteenth of Febuary. The feeling of their hearts were over whelming, the lub dub was so very intense, that it created a feeling of pent up excitement that would not be released. Anticipation of so great it overwhelmed both of them. That night at ten o'clock they sat on their beds, sitting, right hand on their hearts feeling their strong heart beats. Then both Johnny and Emilly felt the feeling of a second heart beat in their chests at the very same moment.

With this feeling they thought of eachother and quickly and swiftly left their rooms out the window to run to each other. As Johnny ran to Emilly's house they saw each other and ran into a sensational hug. Without a second thought they ran hand and hand out to a medow where they stored some wine and blankets. They arrived at eleven o'clock. Emilly and Johnny set it up for their night. They Tangled for their first time ever, their first time with their true love. As the two bodies tangled, their hearts beated as one.

They Finished the night of love with only minutes to twelve o'clock. They layed there staring into each others eyes, Holding each other close, tears pouring down their eyes. Johnny whispers, "I will always love you." Emilly cries some more and whispers back, "I will always love you too Johnny."

Their hearts beated as one, Johnny's lub dubs in sync with his love. The hearts beated harder and harder. They pulled each other closer and went to sleep. Their hearts pounded as one, till with a single breath of the wind, the lovers hearts stopped. On the Midnight hour a breeze of fate took the hearts and souls of the lovers to a place they would be forever happily together.

They were found by their parents. They were frozen in time. Holding each other close, smiles fixed in place and time. A gentle breeze slowly blew threw the meadow with a serene feeling.

They burried the lovers in that Meadow. On the funeral day the whole town was being drenched in a rain storm. The meadow was perfect. No rain penatrated the trees, though you could see the sky. A gently, sweet, peaceful breeze blew threw. As the funeral ended, and the attendies left. Harold slowed down to look back at the meadow, a tear rolled down his face as he saw Johnny and Emilly dancing together, staring into each others eyes, eternally happy. Harold turn and slowly walked away to join his wife.

One year later Johnny's younger brother was drafted and sent to Europe. Andy joined the 109th airborn division. The very same division his brother Johnny would have been part of, the very same plane Johnny would have been in. Andy's plane took a shot to the right engine and was forced to land near Berlin. Andy was shot on site, but the body was not returned to the United States. Andy was left in an unmarked grave, to later be found in 1948, returned and buried in the church cemetary.

Johnny's and Emilly's resting place was left in peace. No one was allowed to deface the sacred place of these two lovers. For all of time these two young lovers were left in their own happy eternity together. During Droughts the trees, grass, and shrubry would never wilt, wither, or die. During Storms of high winds and lightning, the meadow was perfect and peaceful. Love sustained this sacred place, the love of two hearts beating as one. If one were to be quiet, you can hear their laughter, their sweet talking, their hearts beating. Johnny and Emilly found true love, and fate would not allow them to die seperately and alone, and spending their after lives searching for each other. They found True love 64 years ago. Will we? Will fate allow us to find true love, only time will tell. Till then. Remember Johnny and Emilly.
